Stephen Young joined Convergence in 2021 as the Chief Operating Officer, where he has led the implementation of a 24/7 virtual telehealth program supporting over 80 skilled nursing facilities. He also developed a population health program to improve insurance plan member outcomes while also reducing program costs. Prior to joining Convergence, Stephen was the Chief of Staff at Sinai Hospital (Baltimore), and a vice president for LifeBridge Health. He was responsible for the creation of the Virtual Hospital and Operational Resource Center at Sinai Hospital, including contact centers located in Israel and Manila, and oversaw departments and service lines including behavioral health, radiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedics, pharmacy, lab, and the operational excellence department.
Previously, he served at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he held several director positions in oncology, risk management, and the physician network. He has also worked for the for-profit hospital system Health Management Associates, Inc., as president and chief operating officer in community hospitals in Pennsylvania, Florida, and West Virginia, overseeing large-scale projects including a hospital replacement in Pennsylvania and a multi-story acute care expansion in Florida.
Young has a doctorate in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, a Master of Public Health from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He earned his undergraduate degree from The College of William & Mary in Virginia with a double major in Accounting and English. He has an inactive CPA license in Ohio.
